Not all in the same band, and definitely no more than 1 or 2 per set as a little reward for tolerating the rest of our set.

I've always wanted to do "I Wanna Be Your Dog" and "Search And Destroy"-- how kick-ass would those be as closers?-- but could never drum up the interest. Same with any GBV covers.

That is one helluva good list of covers. I've always wanted to learn some of those songs. especially the pere ubu songs, most of the husker du songs and "september gurls."

And how the hell couldn't you get your bandmates to cover fucking "I Wanna Be Your Dog"? That's a kickass closer...
Life...life...I know it's got its ups and downs.

As if that could be a bad thing??

I'd say embrace it - segue into the cadbury's Flake riff

my high school outfit had to record an original and a cover to get into some bush league battle of the bands at a JCC and we recorded "plowed" by sponge (which totally still rules) but we fucked up the tape in our tascam 4-track and it sounded like alvin and the chipmunks play sponge. we got in the battle, were reprimanded mid song for swearing, and lost.

also one time we played copper.

One of the first songs we learned as a band was a lesser-known Billy Preston song called "Let The Music Play." We killed that one.

We occasionally pull out TV On The Radio's "Wolf Like Me," which we learned in five minutes and turned a bit punk rock.

That's it with the band... we did "Drive My Car" in rehearsal a few times as a joke.
