I've been listening to a shitload of Go-Betweens lately. Earlier this year I nabbed a sampler disc of stuff from 16 Lovers, Tallulah, and the other one from around that time. A good third of it is awfully adult-contemporary, but the rest is great. So wonderful.
I also like "Cattle and Cane," especially this YouTubed tv performance

13They were holed up in the UK for a while during their early years and I saw them a coupla times. Great band, some great songs. Part Company was my particular favourite. After they reformed I saw Grant and Robert walking down Sauchiehall St. I would have said hi, but I was eating deepfried Haggis ( mid bevvy session sustenance) at the time and it seemed inappropriate.
NOT CRAP
RIP Grant.

15And "Part Company"? Wow, so nice I think. Go-Betweens are fast becoming the kings of the iPod play count. Here's to the Downer Trio for turnin' poor ol' ElmoFreech onto these Aussie duders.
Grant McLennan solo discs? Anyone? I may eMusic 'em.

20Met the original band when I was a kid. There was a loud n' drunk Lemmy-esque type character in full biker regalia at one show who wouldn't shut up. Grant (r.i.p.) came into the um..."mosh pit" during one of the quieter "jams" and twirled him around like a little girl and did the waltz with him. Extremely friendly people. I prefer the early material.
