For a few moments I thought that horrible arrogant shit cunt Ronaldo was going be the man responsible for dumping his own team out of the final.
But it turned out to be John Terry. Which was good.

The ESPN announcers in the States thought that it would have been called this time had he not missed it. Personally I think that if the taker stops during his run-up that the keeper should be allowed to rush him.
Good game. I felt for Terry. I like him, even though he did call my man Ledley King a monkey, which is pretty despicable.
How many times did Chelsea get screwed out of corners and throw-ins on ball out calls when Joe Cole had possession? It must have happened three or four times. Much respect to him for not going down in the area when Ferdinand tried to skull-fuck him - Drogba would have gone down for fifteen minutes.

1813I'm pleased for Ryan Giggs. Scum Utd player he may be, but to maintain such a high level for so many years deserves some respect.
Fuck the rest of the cunts though.

1814If Romanov doesn't hire Mark McGhee because he won't allow the manager final say over the squad, then I might just blow a gasket.
Vlad....the man has taken Motherwell into Europe and was shortlisted for the Scotland job. He knows how to pick a team. Better than you. Go run Kaunas like it's your own little fiefdom and leave matters at Tynecastle to the people you hire who know Scottish football.

1817Josef K is lying low, God bless him... he's obviously in a world of pain, the poor bugger.
In other news: Went down to see Stars of the Lid in Brum on Wednesday. The whole show ran late because apparently the duo of big droney bastards insisted on watching the Champions League final before playing...

Heh heh, thanks for thinking of me Simmo. I don't feel too bad. Although there was always hope, I've pretty much been prepared for the season ending like this. As a sporting competition it has been great and Rangers have made admirable progress since last season when Celtic won the league by 20 points, or so.
Celtic deserve the league as they've shown that, when it really matters, they can do the business.
What has been disappointing, however, is the conservative tactics displayed by the manager, Smith. Ok, we know there is a lack of real talent, especially up front, but that's no excuse for the negativity shown in the UEFA cup final. The tactics work perfectly well (with a good deal of luck) for two-legged ties but not a one-off final.
I think Smith is capable of getting the team to a certain level but using business language, I don't think he can 'seal the deal'. There is something wrong with his ability to install a 'do or die' mentality to ensure the team are motiviated to finish things off. Under Smith Rangers tend to wilt under the stearnest challenge.
There are a few mitigating circumstances, e.g. number of games (68 this season - more than any other club in Europe apparently - David Weir at 37 played in most of them) but these would just be excusing Smith's failings.
And what happened in Manchester after the match was pretty disgusting and embarrassing. It also probably put paid to any hope of a revival of the home internationals. Bastards.

I mean, European champion. We will know who is the world champion next december in Japan. Boca Juniors vs Manchester United?
