This was the first record I played--in its entirety--on my new turntable when I got it set up today. God, it sounded good. I had planned to christen it with Tonight's the Night, but it didn't seem like the thing to do at 2:00 p.m. I think I'll go listen to it now.

I've been on an Exile kick lately as well.

It's weird, cause every time when I think I'm sick of it, something happens to make me listen again - this time I was in a guitar store, playing around on the acoustics, and I kept on fiddling around with "What's So Funny 'Bout Peace Love and Understanding," and eventually stumbled into something else, and it occurred to me that I was basically trying to play "Sweet Black Angel." The owner - it is one small store - then walked over and showed me how to play it. I don't have it down yet, but I want to...
Life...life...I know it's got its ups and downs.

the hosted file has a (.SIT) extension which I have never heard of before. Had to try 3 freewares before I could unpack it.

Ah. That's a Stuffit archive--it's an old-school Mac thing. You can also use Stuffit on .hqx files. (Most Mac OS X users just use .zip nowadays, but there are some Stuffit and .hqx holdouts.)

This record is fucking awesome, splitting the difference between Sabbath and Zeppelin, an excellent recording that features one of the finest hard rock singers ever, Peter French. He later did stints with Atomic Rooster and Cactus, but I can't imagine him eclipsing the performances here. It's a shame that this band slipped through the cracks because this is as good as 70's heavy rock gets. I'm not shitting you.
