Tony used to play saxophone in a band called Murder in the Red Barn, whose original (best) line-up recorded an album with Bob Weston. The cover art for this record (Get in Before the Rain) is pretty much atrocious from a graphic design standpoint, but the album itself is a very good listen - an obscure but accomplished, "mathy" late '90s indie record. Five unassuming dudes getting down to brass tacks, and they played their hearts out. Plus, Weston fuckin' NAILED the drum sound. Lordy! Some of y'all would eat this record up, assuming you haven't enjoyed it a fair deal already.

But Murder was a long time ago, as was - inside joke alert - Oxygen Vs. The Caramel Apple. These days, when Tony's not too busy pretending he isn't gay, he records bands like MKE locals the Trusty Knife, and more well-known artists like Daniel Johnston and Mick Turner. Slowly but surely he's building up a solid cache of fine recordings, and like my pal Prurient I couldn't be more proud of him. (It's truly gratifying to see one's friends kicking ass.)

Oh, and maybe this goes without saying but Tony KNOWS MUSIC, has billions of records and a formidable grasp on what sounds good. Definitely the sort of dude I'd want to work on my record. (In fact he recorded much of the dialogue for this film I'm still plugging away at.)

Sound Sound is a superb little studio. It isn't, admittedly, particularly spacious, but unless you're recording something akin to the latest Joanna Newsom album all in one take, that shouldn't be an issue. Just be weary of the piano bar on your way in.

Confidential to Scholltown: Remember those three guys?
Ha!
I knew I spotted a winner.
Mick Turner?
WOW!
That is a huge plus sign for your boy.
(Never bothered with Daniel Johnston)
I should have known this guy wasn't completely retarded since he joined as tonysaxophone.

legit thread? wtf?

I started a fread uber excited to make some friends and invite you to an open house studio party loaded with beer and chicks and you guys point out how funny it is for a studio to ad out on another studios website?

I did nothing of the sort and got shit. Then this dude starts a thread and his PR agent comes out and wants to hand in a metal and shake his dick?

Am I missing something...?

I'm going to be as civilized as I possibly can at this hour and give you as dignified a response as possible.
He made one post and it was about his studio offering a deal and it's his only post on here despite joining almost 3 years ago.
You've been on here for a month and have made every person on here think you're retarded.

He's cool, man. Not his PR agent, but aside from my mom and this director friend of mine, I talk to him on the phone more often than I do with anyone. We see eye to eye on a lot of shit, and our interests are complimentary. Plus neither of us have really played our hands yet artistically, though we each have fairly respectable histories, so it's kind of exciting to see what the other one will do next, that sort of thing.

You should have him record your band if you don't quite have the loot to record at EA. He's got good sensiblities. A freak like me. Like YOU!

He's in an on-again-off-again jazz trio (him playing sax and two drummers) called Ha Ha Potato and you'd like them. myspace/hahapotato

I can't wait until Rick Reuben and Killpop finally collide. That right there will make for some premium pay-per-view quality PRF action.

It would be kinda cool to host a troll convention: Just this out-of-control melee of hate-filled babelisms and paranoid delusions of grandeur.

Ha Ha Patato are very good live, as I saw them open for the Paperchase, kind of strange, nowave-ish jazz, very well thought out and the drums were perfectly in tune adding very strange drones to the music...

Caught 'em playing with the Paper Chase a couple years ago at Cactus and thought they were dynamite. Was never big into Murder in the Red Barn, but The few very limited interactions i've had with Tony make me think he's ace.
