22i came across Operation Mindcrime on vinyl, and honestly I kinda like a few songs on this record. I too saw them open for Metallica in '89, so I guess I still have a slight appreciation for them. The rest of their catalog is abysmal.

I went back and revisited some of it after seeing this thread, and a few things jump out at me: a) it sounds like shit; b) Geoff Tate can be really annoying; and c) some of it is borderline absurd.
That said, some of it I still enjoyed. And I can see why I thought it was a great antidote to the cock rock of the era. They were definitely onto something, but that something manifest itself in a ridiculous, dated album that I'd never make it a point to listen to again.
The shit that came before and after it, I have no use for that. Especially the shit that came after it. Fuck that shit.
