There is not a week that goes by that I don't listen to Bo Diddley.

I love Bo's records and his approach to music in general. I wish more people made records that were like Bo Diddley's, regardless of the genre.

A good friend of mine had a band and Bo sat in with them a couple times. My friend returned the favor by filling in on drums at a couple of Bo's semi-regular elementary school gigs. They'd show up at like 8 in the morning and play Bo's rap songs for a gym full of first-graders.

I wish I could listen to Bo Diddley's music every week, but sadly I cannot, as it inevitably makes me think of this friend, who committed suicide about eighteen months ago (he was 31). Now that was sad.

Bo Diddley, you knew what music was all about. Salut!

a week ago i finally managed to play the bo diddley beat to my satisfaction. that was one of the proudest moments in my short drumming career.

This is my favourite clip
notice the fly (and very rare) guitar girl.

i think that's the 3rd time i've posted that here.

i can't imagine a think of a better (proper) rock&roll act.
i've been in the "bo diddley invented rock&roll" school for a good 10 years.
with good bouts of ike turner thrown in to make bo jealous.

i'll miss him.

i'll want a bo diddley guitar until i can find one that's not a cheap piece of shit.

The you tube video is great, one of the best Bo guitars and Lady Bo is great they had some special picking technique using you hands against each other. I don't know if you noticed on top of his Bassman is his handmade vibrato unit (he made a pickup from a phonograph needle and the vibrato from clockworks).

I will pm you with a link to the at least a cut of the beach cuts.

I spell, B-A-D
I'm bad
That mean no messin' me

Now, all you women
Remember when I was twenty-one?
That was a year, baby
That I had a-lots of fun

But a year has gone by
I'm now, twenty-two
I can eat nails, honey
And drink gun powder soup

I spell B-A-D
I'm bad
Don't mess with me

Now, honey you better tell yo' husband
Quit sneakin', peepin', at me
He wanna fight off the man
That I'm the s'posed to be

I'll make sure the drill's runnin'
And mess up his face
I'll even try to snatch bof'a
His legs outta place

B-A-D, bad
One mo' question, honey
Before I start to studder
I can even tell you why
White milk make yellow butter

I'm B-A-D, bad

You ask me, honey
What it was all about
Ya even asked me where the light went
When it went out

I'm B-A-D
I'm bad
Don't mess with me
Sometimes there is a buggy.
