fyp.

Jimmy, that's just fucking ignorant. Don't get me wrong, I was 12 once too, but this is just silly seeing a man of your age and experience carrying on like this about some castrated moaning and self-serving twiddling.

I now have a new mission. A cherry-picked cd of the Stones blowing the unfortunately unenlightened minds of both you and Burun away. I'll send you the discs and post my track listing here (or via PM) for JGP and BER to weigh in on. From 1963 BBC sessions of these guys playing to today. I'll give you 30 (or more) tracks spanning their entire career. I won't cheat.

PM me your address and I will be happy to bring you to the right side of things.

God, as a bassist you should at least listen to Some Girls. I was under the impression that Bill Wyman was a hack until I realized that he had the run of the country from '76 on.

Are we on? Seriously, I think you will be pleasantly surprised. I'd be happy to pour you some Kool-Aid.

After reading this I'll be happy to send a copy of the Stones at BBC to Steve in a pointless attempt to change his made up mind as well. They're so in the pocket you could put them up on molestation charges.

Okay, I'm gonna go crap. As a band, I've always been underwhelmed by the Rolling Stones, despite listening with a sincerely open mind.

I have been torn about this decision simply because I absolutely LOVE covers of this band's songs. My favorite band in the world, feedtime, covered a considerable amount of Rolling Stones songs that I can't get enough of - 'the last time' especially. I love Pussy Galore's 'Exile on Main Street', I actually do! So, even though I can't listen to the originals, the band must be doing something right if their songs are so cover-able!

But then I think about nearly all of the baby boomers I know and am completely disgusted by the fact that they once looked upon Mick Jagger as a real 'artist'. Most of my professors in college were total fanboys of this band at some point, and never tire of intellectualizing their love for the Rolling Stones. That's CRAP, no two ways about it.

And then, of course, I just hate the music. So CRAP it is.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Mick Jagger is a fucking asshole. Any real Stones fan will tell you this without batting an eyelash.

Oh yeah, but there are plenty of people who were once completely crazy about him - gave him this sort of artistic reverence. Even if they don't anymore, in the 60s and 70s they did.

It is VERY hard to respect someone who had that idea, even though I know it's probably unfair of me, because even when I look at him in old videos and stuff, I have a pretty visceral disgust at his whole aesthetic. Besides, I usually hear it from people who are otherwise quite intelligent, sometimes VERY intelligent, and am consistently mystified.

Been listening to Beggars Banquet lately.

Jesus H. Christ in a Chicken Basket, what an amazing album that is.

The songs are so ramshackle and cheap-sounding. The band just locks in together so tightly. Keith's acoustic work on "Factory Girl" and "Dear Doctor" is so full of energy.

"Prodigal Son" is an acoustic blues, and it rocks harder than anything AC/DC ever wrote.

The four "great" Stones albums probably represent the pinnacle of rock and roll music. If you don't think so, you're wrong.

Take my word for it. I am intelligent and Mick Jagger is a fucking asshole.

*EDIT= Just listen to 'Talk Is Cheap'.
