Good record with a good story behind it.

What's the story? My wife recently got me into this record. It's really a great record. Sounds to me like they did a bunch of acid and made a record, is there more to it?
This has most of the story. They also "broke into" the Beatles' studio so they could use their instruments which The Pretty Things were too poor to afford.

Creedence Clearwater Revival, Willy and the Poor Boys, specifically "Effigy"

Fogerty's solos on "Effigy" are some of my favorite guitar playing on record, currently. What an underrated song. Those solos are just totally scratchy fuzz-toned expressions of rage, fear, and depression. I want to play that song someday with those solos, cause while Fogerty's a good player, he never improvised a note in his life. All those solos on the old classic Creedence records were meticulously preplanned, I believe.

Fogerty's Creedence guitar tone is really amazing. I dream about it...I know he was using old Kustom amps for that guitar sound. Since no one gives a shit at all about Kustom amps these days, you can find them for cheep on Ebay and in guitar stores, like around $500 for a head and cabinet. However, you cannot get Rickenbackers or Gibsons for cheap, which is what he was using guitarwise. Kind of messes up my plans...
Life...life...I know it's got its ups and downs.
