Well, I wasn't really referring to their current product, or win-loss record. They kinda changed their philosophy, giving up trying to compete with the Red Sox and Yankees payroll-wise, by overpaying for guys like Javy Lopez, Tejada, Palmiero, Sosa, etc.; and instead focusing on home-grown prospects, and youth. They have a lot of really talented guys in AAA that should be with the big club by 2009, if not September call-ups this year.

Basically, they're trying to be the early 90's Braves.

Time to trade Tex for a young starter or a proven closer and a first baseman.

Oh well...

As a kid I had always been a Cubs fan, but in those Octobers in the 90's I was all about America's Team. It's a bummer to see you guys struggling now.

The biggest deifference between the Cubs and the teams they've swept in the past few weeks is the injuries. Your Braves, the Dodgers, Rockies , Padres, all have been beat up pretty bad by the baseball gods this year. A fate typically designated for the northsiders. So even though the roster looks deep now, some of us know not to get too carried away.

Now Soriano is down for 6 weeks. Who's next?

Cubs do this all the time with Jason Marquis. Makes more sense in the NL because then you can reserve your bench for pinch-hitting and double switching and all that. You might ask: well what if he fucks up his leg on a slide or some such freak thing? The answer is: well, it's only Jason Marquis.
