Quitting Drinking
112NOT CRAP. I'm not even sure who would vote CRAP or why. It's enough to make me wary of the inevitable C/NC for "Quitting Heroin" though.
Last time I drank I made a total ass of myself and the last two weeks I've stayed sober in order to drive people, which has been a real eye-opener. Drunk people are pretty tedious, especially if they're somewhere they've never been, and double especially if that place is your favourite haunt but you can't enjoy yourself because you're babysitting drunk people who ain't know what they're doing.
I've been of age for a year but I've only been drunk six times, tops (making it seven times I've ever been drunk), and I make a point of trying to space it out. It is not rad to have alcoholism.

113Quitting drinking is an excellent decision, if it's what you want. If you can manage to merely slow down a bit, it can be very beneficial too.
I've gone a little over a month now without touching a drink. Before I was drinking at least three or four times a week, and quite heavily. I knew that it was becoming a problem, and once I slowed down I realized that it was also contributing to other problems that I would have never attributed to alcohol (staying in a shitty relationship, etc.)
Now I have a shitload more time to do things that make me happier on a more consistent basis. When I go for a while without drinking, it makes the occasions when I do drink a lot better. It really sucks when you look back on a week and realize that you were drunk for a large portion of the week but didn't have any fun.
So yeah, I'd say it's a good way to go

114While I would also be interested in how the Master Cleanse works out, the wikipedia article makes me want to do that even less. The detox diet entry also makes me hesitant to try that.
Pretty sure I will be jumping on the wagon for at least some time. I run a small scale house venue so its not going to be easy. Our recycling trash cart thing was over flowing with beer containers and then most of the green trash cart thing was full as well last time.

Yeah. Jesus. Sounds familiar. I've cut back to twice a week. Wine. Last night I had a few beer(s) and I don't feel well this morning (again).
My body is telling me to stop with the beer. Getting too old.
The links you posted make the Master Ass Cleaner sound not so good...

Morgan Spurlock's wife wrote a book about the Detox Diet she gave him after Super Size Me that I enjoyed. Can't remember any more details than that, but it is on the shelf at home. Great American Detox Diet maybe? I didn't actually put anything into practice, but it seems like it could work.
I think my booze problem just comes from being 23 and not knowing limits too well. My limit is currently when I fall asleep. The first 2 or 3 usually treat me pretty well, but then its just train to stupidville after that. Its only weekends mainly though. I've got some pretty horrifying family stories that involve alcohol. I believe both sides of my mother's side of the family have lots of alcoholics. Not a road I want to go down.
My friend in the band Drink to Victory is doing I think 3 months on the wagon. Never seen him do anything stupid on booze, but with a band name like that I figure if he can do it, I can do it.
