A couple of years ago, I used to practice at 16th and western. Our room was actually prety decent, big, with a huge window.

The only thing that made me uneasy was their rent collecting scheme. On the first of the month, you had to leave an envelope with cash (no checks, no money orders) in your room, and they were supposed to come by and collect it.

That just seemed really shady and unsafe. Of course, one of our last months as a band, our rent money dissapeared, and since it was all cash there was no way to track it, which resulted in a huge deal.

Hopefully they have changed that policy.

Remember when I lived in the exact same neighborhood as you for two years? 'member?

Like it was yesterday. Ya douche.

Yes, the number of semi-abandoned Rust Belt storage facilities in DC is appallingly low.

Thus explaining your gratuitous (and entirely predictable) mention of DC. Salut!

PS -- The kicking in the drywall scheme? If bad guys in Chicago havent thought of that, then theyre way behind everywhere else in the world. Happened to friends of mine in FL.

PPS-- No one is behind FL.

rooms starting at 180, most are in the 200$ range. Standard conditions for practice space....... drywall, cargo elevator, etc.

This is closer to Rockwell, right? I had my PA get ruined there from the roof leaking. That was also 9 years ago, so I dunno how things are today. Oh, and Chris from Chinup Chinup had someone break into his band's room and steal all his cymbals.

That place was awesome, though crappy.

Don't forget about Superior Street!!! It seems like everybody plays there nowadays.

Yea it's by rockwell........... funny everyone should mention ceiling problems...... our room has rocks falling from the ceiling. Rather cheap for the size though. People get jacked in the parknig lot back there? Crud.

I would be at the place at 16th and western if I knew where it was there. anyone have a contact to that place?

we are all bike people.. so carjacking is of no concern :)
hell.. our bikes are hardly worth scrap price
aside from that.. rockwell and north is a walk away for me... and i know most the kids in the area... not much to be afraid of

Check the place out, if you do decide to move in let me know, and they got the 50$ off of your rent and half my rent off deal if you were referred. However, if you have 350$ to throw down I'd look into sacramento and carroll, really nice rooms.

Anybody here have any recent experience with the Sacramento & Carroll building?

My band is currently at Superior St. where we've been for the past 5-6 years. It's been a great place but we have an opportunity to split a room with some friends at the Sacramento & Carroll building and save a bit of money in the process. Plus our current roommates at Superior told us they may be leaving soon.

Any feedback, good or bad, from recent times on this place?
Good Luck,

Talk to Mr. Chimp or Rick Reuben.
I believe they're both still there.
