you are on the right track with this. it sounds like some arnold schwarzenegger bullshit, but exercise is a pretty powerful anti-depressant. i'm a sad sack of crap most of the time, and i always feel a ton better about myself after riding my bike or shooting some hoop.

Yeah I've been pretty down lately. Real lonely, too. I work at a job where I'm dealing with the terminally ill/elderly all day, so I always try to bring my A game for those guys, which helps, but off the clock I kinda feel like a mess sometimes.

What makes me happy -

my job.

buying cds. I don't have much of a life, which allows plenty of time for critical listening.

Thomas Pynchon's Mason and Dixon, which I'm reading very slowly.

Band practice! We practice once a week, usually during the day on the weekends. Band practices are in an old building downtown that has this weird stage setup. The room sounds good and there is no air conditioning. We play for four or five hours and then collapse.

play some "shoot'em up" video game. it helps.

I would honestly recommend exercise first. Nice one, TDF. Swimming has worked for me. After swimming for ages at a pathetically slow speed, I am usually too knackered to be bothered to feel down.
