My jr. high band teacher sat in with Buddy Rich's band when he attented University of Cincinatti, thanks to his teacher's suggestion. This was after Buddy Rich fired most of the trumpet section during rehearsals.

My teacher said he hasn't been as scared as he was then.

Thankfully, and some would say LUCKILY, Buddy liked his chops, patted him on the back and said he would go far.
