Butthole Surfers in UK

I like them, but nothing that is loud enough for me to hear over the schtick of the band. Maybe if I was 15 at the time, I might get it.

A few laughs, some okay noise and spectacle. The hype surrounding them before they played their first show here was in high gear. I worked the show and I'll admit that they were "fun" and all that, totally fucked-up. However, it brought out the worst of Minneapolis' junkie-punk crowd and I had to tell people to not shoot up drugs in the toilet, etc. The mess afterwards was disgusting to have to clean up.

Ultimately, the only song I can remember is the Sweet Leaf thing.

You obviously have no experience dealing with the Butthole Surfers. They were devious to the point of dishonesty in every encounter I had with them. Try to find someone with direct experience who can say differently.

Gibby once hit a whiffle ball straight up in the air at such a steep angle that it came down directly into the vent for the furnace of my house and lodged there. When the heat came on, it melted and the house reeked of burning plastic.

Later, when asked about it he denied all knowledge, forgetting that his interlocutor was standing on the porch when it happened.

Was this the "infamous" Buttholes show in Minneapolis? The Courtney Love one?

As far as the Buttholes are concerned, the only way in hell I'd see them was if Paul Leary was there; his new band, Carny, is on myspace and they're pretty great, I think.
BUT, Leary ALSO seems to be the biggest festering asshole of the bunch - talented, but a real jackass. Thus, even IF I paid to see Leary I'd still feel dirty for doing so.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

See if you can find the DVD "The Blind Eye Sees All," it's from a 1985 show. Production/sound are solid. Paul's guitar playing is amazing. They were one of those bands whose albums never really did them justice.

Theoretically either side could have made a call and resolved the whole thing, then. I don't have any experience in dealing with them, it's true.

All the more reason Corey should have been happy to see them go. Which I'd guess he is.

Well, I doubt Corey was ecstatic about losing that back catalog! If that was in print on T&G all these years, it would have sold enough to make Corey's and the Butthole Surfers lives a little easier. It's just very nutty. For God's sake, you think King Coffey knew what the score was, as his own label was m & d'ed by T&G.
