yeah, I really felt like he pulled out all the stops. At a time when the Bush administration has done everything to cloud the truth and keep us divided and unsure, he's standing there uniting us, taking partisan lines out of the equation..... Just like 'copters said, it gives me hope, and I am one jaded fucker. He even handled the crappy questions that the FOX news reporters asked him, turning them around and actually saying something..... Yeah, I'm in awe.

I would like to share some parts of Obama's speech that moved me the most... that really got the crowd going... I really love the fact that he never mentions Bush and Co. but manages to cover the obvious flaws in their politics. Check it out:

"If there's a child on the south side of Chicago who can't read, that matters to me, even if it's not my child. If there's a senior citizen somewhere who can't pay for her prescription and has to choose between medicine and the rent, that makes my life poorer, even if it's not my grandmother. If there's an Arab American family being rounded up without benefit of an attorney or due process, that threatens my civil liberties. It's that fundamental belief-I am my brother's keeper, I am my sisters' keeper-that makes this country work. It's what allows us to pursue our individual dreams, yet still come together as a single American family. "E pluribus unum." Out of many, one."

and this one really drives it home:

"There's not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America; there's the United States of America. The pundits like to slice-and-dice our country into Red States and Blue States; Red States for Republicans, Blue States for Democrats. But I've got news for them, too. We worship an awesome God in the Blue States, and we don't like federal agents poking around our libraries in the Red States. We coach Little League in the Blue States and have gay friends in the Red States."

Also his quote from the Declaration of Independence was well used and poignant.

no easy answer to this. i've been a skeptic, but recently a convert for lack of better options. of course i would have laid my life on the line for kucinich if i thought he had a chance (hell, gravel was pretty inspiring too). even having dennis in more of the debates would have been a huge improvement to the process. but the facts are we are left with a young rising star who has relatively little history with the power structures of party politics. he has been pretty damn hesitant to make any really bold, progressive policy statements, yes. he's kind of stiff, sure. but i will still cry tears of joy if he is elected. which would be a miracle in the face of the republican vote-stealing machine. not crap (FOR A POLITICIAN).

I should look it up, but didn't Obama vote against some bill that would have capped credit card interest rates at 30%? Am I wrong on that?

I'm pretty sure that he is - or eventually will be - in the CRAP category.
