Tim,

Anheuser-Busch stock... Buy or sell?

Can you predict the day when Nick Swisher will concentrate more on his hitting than cracking jokes?

Are you aware that the Cubs have the best record in baseball?

How many Pecos would you pay to see Coldplay in concert?

And finally,
What's the proper thing to say to the A-Hole that's always behind me on planes "inadvertently" pushing with his carry-on, thinking that's going to get me and the other 70 people in front of me to move faster?

Buy. Solid company. But I'm not a constant follower of individual stocks, so take that with salt.

Eh, he's playing OK. Higher OBP than AJP, who is having a 'good' year.

Overall, I think the Sox are playing kinda just OK. They will have to play better to win the division.

Are you aware that the Cubs have the best record in baseball?

Not sure what you mean by this.

How many Pecos would you pay to see Coldplay in concert?

Oh, you would have to give me something on the order of both Pecos, NM and Pecos County, TX to get me to sit through a Coldplay concert.

It's probably like three hours long.

I don't understand this even a little bit.

Or milling about by the gate, kinda sorta standing in line when they aren't even close to being called to board.

Or standing up the INSTANT the plane stops. Like it is going to help.

Basically, the a-hole is an amateur traveler. A tailgater.

He doesn't realize that if you hang back and assess the traffic for a minute, you can pick out a path that will get you through it.

Or not, and if you have to wait, who gives a shit. You're talking about five minutes or something.

Hey TMidgett.

I'm addicted to the internet. What should I do?

Have you ever been burned out on playing music?

Ever sold a bunch of stuff you once loved?

I just gave up my practice space indefinitely. Now I have 2 1x15 cabinets with those fancypants EV speakers you like so much in them. One is a Dietz painted silver in slightly beat up shape and a really nice condition Mesa "diesel" that I bought used. Do I really need to hold onto both cabinets? If not, which one should I sell? I guess I am little sad *sniff* that I won't be playing out anytime soon. Do I need 800 watts of speaker power for "just screwing around on the weekends?"

I also have a blown EV. Who will take it off my hands?

In regards to the Merkur Futur, do you use the German blades or those Japanese ones, or something else? Are you an aftershave man?

Oh, and lastly, I am going to a Nationals/Orioles game tonight with my batshit insane crazy uncle. What excuse can I use to exit after the game so I don't end up stuck with him all night? HELP!

what are the lyrics to 'int'l harbor of grace'?

i can understand if you don't feel like typing them out. can you at least tell me what you say that sounds to me like:

--germany absorbency when you walk--

Ha ha!

That's what I am saying. Or rather would say were I to ever sing that song again.

I don't remember them well...but:

You can have that piece of Indiana lakeshore
Put entire families in hock
Take the real estate on the top floor
At the marina you can have the whole dock
Slip into
Slip into

It's probably from that part.

Obviously, I'm not Tim, and Tim has replied, but aren't the lyrics in question '...gives you the patience of Job and the absorbency of a mop'?

Yeah?

I'm certainly not Tim, but I'd recommend faking the shits or saying you gotta date. You gotta pick her up after she gets off work. Who'd want to deal with someone who could get 'em sick. Alternately, if you play it like you're going to get your hunch on, that the deal is sealed, then there's little reason he can give not to part ways. If not, just drop his ass off at home. Don't give him the option. Driving is always best in these situations.

I liked a suggestion someone else made on here, of unhooking and unplugging your modem. Put the cables someplace you'll have to dig them out. You'll feel like a tool doing that more than once or twice a day.

Have you ever been burned out on playing music?

No. Honestly, I have pretty much endless stamina for making music.

I can work old-school Albini hours in the studio to this day. However, if I had worked old-school Albini hours as consistently as Steve has, I would probably be dead or insane by now.

Ever sold a bunch of stuff you once loved?

A bunch, no. A 1967 Caprice, yes. My WRX wagon. A few records. A couple guitars I wish I still had--I had a 1959 Les Paul Jr. that felt awesome to play, and I sold it. Dumb.

But that's about it. I think.

Well, how sure are you won't be playing out anytime soon?

Extremely sure?

If not, keep 'em.

If so, do both cabs sound the same?

If not, sell the one that sounds worse.

If they sound the same, I'd sell the Mesa. You won't get enough for the Dietz, and who cares what condition your cabs are in.

I also have a blown EV. Who will take it off my hands?

eBay it.

In regards to the Merkur Futur, do you use the German blades or those Japanese ones, or something else? Are you an aftershave man?

I use Merkur blades. Still have some from when I bought it (got a bunch).

Aftershave, no. Cologne can be OK if it's good enough and not strong. But no aftershave.

Oh, and lastly, I am going to a Nationals/Orioles game tonight with my batshit insane crazy uncle. What excuse can I use to exit after the game so I don't end up stuck with him all night? HELP!

I agree with Lemuel. First, I hope you're driving yourself--makes it a lot easier. Second, not feeling well/must shit, one or the other or both. Third, fake a phone call or text message, say it's a girl, done.

Obviously, I'm not Tim, and Tim has replied, but aren't the lyrics in question '...gives you the patience of Job and the absorbency of a mop'?

Right! Forgot about that completely. I like that line.

Hey Tmidgett,

When one goes about forming a band, do want ads actually help, or do they just confuse things?
Life...life...I know it's got its ups and downs.

My drummer and I are going to record a song or two with a friend in a couple of weeks for free. This is the first time the band has been in a fancy recording studio, and we want to be wise with our time. At practice, we're going to be sure to the arrangements are where we want them to be and whatnot.
In 'Ooh La La', it seems like there's a lot of subtlety to the bass sound. What micing techniques were used in getting this kind of sound? We're a two piece, so I want the little stuff to kind of shine through in the recording.
So I guess any advice about studio preparedness would be helpful. I know there's a lot of stuff on this board and elsewhere that'll help out, so I'm definitely going to be taking some notes.
