Since I am on call, I need to carry it.

However, I have been known to leave it in the hotel room during tournaments, or at home when I want Other Other Job's boss to not be able to reach me.

yes i do this and its nice. my phone is constantly on silent anyway though so... ugh i wish i didnt have a cell phone.

I didn't mean to say I think someone's weird who just doesn't happen to have or need one... what I really meant is that I get weirded out by people who don't have them AND preach to everyone else like "Those things are the devil!! How could you stand having one!?"

and... I'm just as weirded by someone who preaches "OMIGOD HOW COULD YOU *NOT* HAVE ONE?" - so you can be sure that is not my opinion.

Just like the fishing rod - i don't really care who owns or doesn't own one, but anyone who's like "Jesus - what is up with fishing rods - how can you be saddled with such a device!" - or - "I can't live life without my fishing rod by my side everyday!" - either extreme would irritate the piss out of me.

You are correct, Arson. I was being antagonistic for effect. I don't hate these people. I do however resent the culture of rudeness that the device seems to breed.
