Most notebooks have a stop built into the BIOS that prevents this from happening. The T40 surely has this.

you sure about this?

try this:

have both the ac adapter and the battery installed.

pull out the dc plug from the laptop.

did it turn off?



laptops are kind of like battery backups in this manner. The battery, if installed is what the laptop draws from, while the AC adapter serves to recharge the battery in real time.
