Idea: a track-by-track cover of another old-classic record

Camper Van Beethoven released their version of Fleetwood Mac's Tusk a few years ago, supposedly from tapes they made during their mid-80s heyday. The execution wasn't near as cool as the idea of it, but there were moments.

I've always thought that it would be cool to do, as your encore, the first three songs of classic records. None of your own songs, but have a repetoire of maybe twenty albums to draw upon.

Good (total scorched-earth devastation of rock and roll classique): Pussy Galore's Exile on Main St.
Bad (actually, cool idea ruined cause the band sucks): Phish's "Halloween" live records

It could probably be done well. I do think doing a live cover set of an entire album on Halloween is actually a damn cool idea; too bad Phish stinks.
Life...life...I know it's got its ups and downs.
