A PDF about Electrical Audio (for you...)

1
since some people have shown interest in this, here is my PDF compiling several info scattered around on the Net and this forum in particular regarding recording techniques or documentation of sessions.

it's a big file (110 mb) so I split it into 4 parts, each one 28 mb.

the reason why the pdf size is so big?

-233 pages
-tons of pictures (gamma corrected so that we could acually see the microphones...the original pictures were too dark to see anything!)
-snare samples of each recording room
-has the complete lecture of Steve at MTSU in mp3 format (about 80 minutes).
-has 2 more mp3 interviews by steve for Triple J radio and the lecture given for the sound of young america, in chicago.

of course, there's no way 233 pages would be enough to cover all the useful info that was posted around here. there's a lot that was left out...
read the disclaimer on the pdf for more info.

but it should give some good reference points for you guys to apply to your own recordings (or career).

this PDF doesn't have an index, but I made a very detailed set of bookmarks that point to all the relevant info. Please check the bookmarks section of adobe reader when you open this PDF.

another final note: adobe reader does not have a "stop/start" audio function (or search buttons). once you press the button to listen to the lectures, the audio will NOT stop until you close Adobe Reader. As well, you cannot do random access to the lecture. you have to listen to the whole thing, and it's not possible to skip parts (unles I had divided the mp3 into several smaller sections, but hey, I already had too much work with this in the first place).Sorry about that, but it's not my fault that I have an old version of Acrobat. It was the best I could do.

if any of your words made it onto this pdf, I hope you won't be angry :)
Here are the files, they will disappear in 7 days, or 100 downloads:

my ea fix for those times without the interwebz.

i couldn't open parts 2, 3 & 4 with stuffit expander. if those are the audio files, then i don't need to bother, already got those lying around somewhere.

get 'em while the gettin's still good!

you need all 4 parts to decompress the file.
sorry about that, but the full pdf REALLY is 110 megabits,
can you use Win rar?
if not, please let me know, and I'll do a self-extractable .exe version, or a version without the mp3 which should put the size down to 60 megabits.

take care.

EDIT: IZArc is a free decompresser software, and will successfully decompress these files. try it if all else fails.

i was able to unpack the first part, which gave me a 240 page document. wasn't able to unpack the others with stuffit. as long as i'm the only one who couldn't, don't worry about me. i've got the other stuff already.

thanks again!
