I'll be 30 in January and I think that I've finally gotten to the point that people think that I'm 22, which is much more acceptable and tolerable than a 2-4 years back when they thought (sans make-up) that I was a junior or senior in high school.
One of my favourite incidents of mistaken age occurred while joining my parents for brunch in Crivitz, WI back when I was about 25 or 26. I'd been out to the bars the night before and thus slept in and skipped getting stylish and opted instead for yoga pants/hoody/no make-up.
At the end of our meal, the waitress faced my parents and asked them if they would like coffee or an after-dinner drink. She then turned to me specifically and inquired, "and would you like a glass of milk?"
Another time, my hockey player co-workers at the ice rink asked me if I could get myself a fake I.D. I was 25-years old and married and they were freshmen and sophomores in university. They wanted to invite me out for drinks but assumed that I was 17 or 18 and wanted to hook me up with a good fake if I needed it. Heh.
