I hold a banana as I type this response. It's all yours if you're in the vicinity of Boise ID. Absent that, good job. Salut, spitfister.

All right, back to arguing about "steroids", you nuts!

So far I've scored a French Dip and a banana from you. I'm not doing too bad. One of these years, Boise will be on my itinerary. But, will people talk?

I don't think natural deaths should be in the list, as John Peel's was. Sure it sucks, but we all gotta go. It was sad, but not a crappy moment for rock. It was an occasion to remember all the great things he did for rock.

Janis/Jimi/Bonham/Curtis/Cobain are a different matter. Yes, those were crappy moments in rock history. Still, I am not sure they are the best choices for the list, if we are thinking of "innovations" that made rock music crappy itself.

If we're going to talk about rock deaths, the Altamont debacle and the recent Rhode Island club fire have to be close to the apex of crappiness. The willful disregard for human life exhibited in these cases runs contrary to anything having to do with the "spirit" of what rock ought to be about.
