I know how (I've owned two manual cars), but I don't particularly enjoy it. I'd rather not have to engage another limb in the driving process if I don't have to.
Though I've never had the pleasure of driving a high-performance machine wide open. I really want to drive some kind of race car at some point.
Someone doesn't know how or doesn't want to bother, who the hell cares.

sure, but I don't really see that happening "Soon," by any stretch of the imagination.
I guess unless you're measuring it against all of time. in that case, yes. it will happen soon.

Dude, I mean, check this shit out.
I like the pedestrian in the video who comes within inches of getting sandwiched between a van and a motorcycle and then keeps walking like nothing happened. (lower right, circa :35-40)

Mercedes Benz to stop building gasoline-powered cars in seven years.I would consider 7 years to be "soon" in the scheme of automobile manufacturing.

65I blame my old man; he didn't want me learning how to drive stick in his car because he was afraid I would fuck it up. Alas, I've driven nothing but an automatic, and met nobody with the patience to give me a half day in a mall parking lot.

66Just borrow a friend's car and tell him/her that you can drive stick. In a scant few blocks, you'll be stickin' like a madman.
It's way easier than you think.
Macho.

67I have yet to post a link to the video I have of a woman having sex with a stick shift, I think I deserve credit for my restraint.

I've seen that one; shall we flip a coin over who links to it first?

seven years is soon in the terms of stopping production, but the cars that exist will be around for a lot longer than that. Especially the Benz.
my Benz just passed 200,000 and is almost 20 years old with little or no sign of slowing down. purrs like a kitten. So let's say that 7 plus 20 (at least) is the first time Benz will be out of the running for gas cars.
that's not at all "Soon." hell, many of us will be dead before then. besides, Mercedes Bonzo deals with upscale cars and models, so they can afford to do this kind of shit. The average consumer doesn't drive a Benz. Now if GM said that they were stopping the gas car production, that'd be another thing altogether.
but, it is not.
kerble is right.
