Should I stay or should I go?

Yeah, but you'll be the cool/creepy guy that everyone wonders about on weekends. That's worth something.

And 27? Plenty of time, but getting that degree under your belt now is a good idea if you are feeling the pull.

My boyfriend went to school last fall at 25 with the 18 year olds and he was super popular there. Because he doesn't have the hangups and insecurity about public speaking and whatnot that the 18 year olds had so they all thought he was awesome.

I went back to school after about a decade off.

It was about 100 times more productive. I had found a calling in engineering, I was motivated, and, since I was old, I wasn't expected to be involved in any of the social trappings. I could just study and go to class.

Worked out great.

As zom says, you can always find restaurant work, and there's nothing wrong w/that as a calling. But getting an architecture degree is not much of a risk.

Go back to school!

If I could go back to school and learn all the shit I wish I knew every day here, I'd jump at the chance and I'm 45. If you can do it without totally wrecking some precious aspect of your life, then go for it.

Nobody ever regretted learning too much.

I agree that going back at my age will benefit me in many ways. I feel more focused and, at 27, am finally starting to feel a little more like a grown up. Or maybe that I should at least take a wack at it. One of the two. Maybe both. I think school will lend to me an environment that I currently need. Not everyone is an autodidact como Senor Albini. But my thoughts about just being plain fucking bored half way through school were not laid to rest by Fraser. All of these are great suggestions and experiences you have shared. Thanks.
