I've only skimmed over a few posts, but I can definitely relate to this thread.

I'm in a bad place right now in terms of my attitudes towards other people. Part of it is due to complicated personal issues that make me a lot angrier, but part of it is also the environment. I've had to resist the temptation to tell my friends here "you're fucking stupid!"...or to put it nicely, "you're nice people, but I don't think I want to be around you any more than I have to."

It's hard to make relatively innocuous observations about how people suck (a universally accepted fact, I though) because I tend to get "maybe you need to change your attitude"-type replies. Maybe there are some things I need to change, but I definitely feel worse when I can't make fun of people. Hating on annoying people is almost a relaxing exercise to me. It's a great coping mechanism. I guess I just need to be in an environment that makes me need to do it less.

I'm gonna read through this thread now and see if any of the advice is helpful.

I think there may indeed be something to this universal loving kindess meditation.

Also I have been trying to view the accomplishements of my friends and peers with more excitment and pride. As many of us do, I know many people who are doing some amazing things, which I have tended to ignore as I've directed the majority of my focus to achieving my own ambitions.
