Band: Fantomas
2I say they are not crap, but only because I've seen them in concert a few times and know just how intense it is watching the rest of the musically-superior band bend to the whims of madman Mike. I do not often find myself listening to the cds, but I buy them and occasionally put them on as insane background noise when driving long distances or doing lots of cleaning.
Oh, and that movie soundtrack album? That was nutty. Wacky, even.

3What do you guys think of Fantomas vs. Tomahawk? Of course that latter does have Duane Denison in it...

4Apples/Oranges.
Or maybe more correctly bananas and mangoes.

5patton is annoying, he sucks.
duane denison rules. if tomahawk had a different vocalist I think they'd be allright.

6CRAP. Mike Patton can ruin any band for me. I guess the playing is OK, but I don't like the fact that this band, like pretty much everything involving Patton, seems to be waving a big flag that says "Look how ECCENTRIC we are!". I do want to hear that newest one, that's s'posed to be a like a horror movie soundtrack or some such thing, but I'm sure I'd hate it.

7fantomas isn't crap, but, i feel they've fallen short of their ambitions since the first disc. the first disc i think really did everything it set out to do... the second i think was somewhat ill-conceived (writing lyrics for pre-existing movie themes?) and the third should have been divided into tracks for one, had the locked groove sound removed for two, hm... anything else? i'm also frustrated because i was working on some similarly themed music in infidel?/castro! long before that came out, but it is only seeing its release now. argh! well i'm just going to believe that we're better, and that people will find that out.

8I like the first one and also the fantomas melvins big band that I have is interesting. I didnt get into the Directors Cut at all, and when Delirium Cordia came out I was extremely dissapointed in it. I heard part of an interview with mike patton saying that the fact that it outsold both their previous releases proves that people dont know anything about music including himself

Agreed. Also, I love how metal fans think Patton is genius above all. Fuck all his stuff. I like metal, I don't like Patton.
Overrated, overhyped CRAP.

10First Fantomas record is alright. Haven't listened to any of the others. It's the only remotely non-crap project Mike Patton has been involved with. Can't stand that guy.
Tomahawk is total crap. They should get a new singer and stop writing songs that sound like Faith No More.
