92i gotta say, wire at sled island 2 weeks ago were fucking booorrring. colin was reading his fucking lyrics off a laptop. best part of the show: a drunken mosher yelling/singing "keep on rocking... IN A FREE WORLD!" at them between songs. the whole band cringed and i laughed AT them.

It was, already.
I went.
I didn't know Margaret was playing with them until I went to the show, and I was pleasantly surprised.
I enjoyed the show. It was worth taking the night off work for - something I am doing a lot of lately.
I saw Michael Emerson (the guy who plays Benjamin Linus on Lost.)
+1
I had a good time at the show. Not as aggressive as they were the last time I saw them in '02 or so. They were a lot more melodic and organic-feeling this time, and they seemed to be having fun. They closed out with five old songs, too: "The 15th"*, "I Am the Fly", "12XU", "Lowdown", and "Pink Flag". I'm glad I went.
*This sort of sputtered out at the end due to some sound problems, but they were good humored about it enough that I didn't care too much.

96With regard to how Wire got their guitars to sound so commandingly awesome on those prime, early albums: I know Pink Flag featured a lot of overdubs -- Just playing the same basic guitar lines on top of each other. You can hear this being done to phenomenally good effect on "Strange", for instance (that's not the sound of a mere two guitars).

99this is the weirdest post i've ever seen on EA. bad comrade, behind the gossip. usually he is the gossip.BadComrade wrote:Ok, so Wire released another album called Object 47? I didn't even hear about this.
Another thing I didn't hear about:
Tonight, I hung out with my friend Lou, who is in town from London. He was the drummer for the band Laika. Margaret Fielder (She was the singer / guitar player, and basically 1/2 of Laika and she was in the first lineup of Moonshake, along with playing guitar on a couple of PJ Harvey tours) is in Wire now. She replaced Bruce Gilbert (who quit the band in 2004, which I didn't know...).
She will be playing guitar on the upcoming tour. Crazy.
