So i noticed that we all spend a lot of time boasting about our great deals on ebay/craigslist/garage sales...but what about the stupid mistakes you've made, selling something for far less than it is worth, or something you should have held onto, that you wish you still had?
I sold an RD custom for $300. it was beat to hell, but still played just fine, and sounded great.
A friend needed a bass amp, so I sold her my old bassman 100 for $300. would buy it back if she would sell it.
I also sold my first guitar a dark stained Peavey Patriot with those awesome super-ferrite pickups. I got an ok price, but i wish i still had it.

2bough a 335 copy, put about 200 bucks on it on setup+new pots+high quality pickups. then discovered it wasn't the guitar for me. sold it and lost some money in the process
thought that a plywood squier will sound good with some high-quality, custom shop strat pickups. guess what: it doesn't.

so yeah, i'm a pussy.

3I bought a JCS 800 50 watt half stack, with off brand cab, for $550 in 1993. In 1995 or 1996 I sold the head for about $400 and though I made out great.
Man, I miss that head sometimes.

4I sold my Yamaha YC-30 to Kerble for $100 and now I have plenty of room for it.
I sold my '63 Dano bass for a couple hundo. I miss it a whole lot.
I did not buy a Tascam 1" 16 track for $100 because I didn't own a mixer at the time and thought I would never have room for it.
I gave away 4 Roberts R2R preamps and 2 random old tube preamps because I was moving and didn't want to deal with finding room for them.
It seems that most of my despair comes from me thinking I don't have enough room for shit.

5I sold my TB1000A for $1875. it was a great sale since I had paid $1400 for it just a couple months earlier. but seeing what they sold for a couple-few months ago, it seems like that was the time to sell. coulda probably got an extra $1K.
it's not that I regret selling it. it's just that whole thing where hindsight shows that the time I sold was not the right time to sell. oh well.
as far as the B15N I sold to Steve, I probably coulda got another couple hundred bucks if I put it on eBay instead. within about a month after I sold it to him, there was one on eBay sold for $350 more than I sold mine for. thing is, I got that amp in a trade for an amp that I paid less than $700 for and then used all the time for 10 years. so by selling that amp, the net is that I got paid like $50 to play through this other amp for 10 years. so everybody won, really.
same kinda thing with the amp I sold to Redline, a '78 JMP 50W bass head with upgraded OT (mercury magnetics) and the original functional OT in a box, for $900. I coulda got $1050 for the head and $100 for the OT on eBay probably. but I sold it for pretty much what I paid for the amp and shipping. I may have made like $20 profit on the deal. so again, everybody wins.
70's SVT 8x10" cab. same story, bought it for $250 in 1989, sold it for $300 in 1999. coulda got another couple hundred I'm sure, but that's back before eBay was popular, or anything, I dunno. 10 years of use and $50 profit, just coulda got more monies.
I guess I should feel really damn lucky that these are the worst things I can think of. a few cases of making a profit to play an instrument/amp/cab for a time, but the profit was less than it easily could have been? I guess I feel really damn lucky right about now.

6I bought a Gold Sparkle G&L ASAT for $700 and sold it after 3 years of playing to a friend for like $600. I didn't really feel bad about it at the time, but I really miss that guitar, it looked and played great.
I did the same thing with a Musicman 115 one thirtyfive combo amp. bought it for $400, sold it for $350 to LostHighway's guitarist. sounded great and played fine but I had two other amps that did the same thing. I should have sold the Fender Vibrosonic instead. It'd probably sell for like 500 now.
I think those were the only two losses that I've had.

8Jap Fender Mustang in pretty bad shape, never felt happy about it, but i did sell it for more than i bought it.
Univox Hi-flier in BAD shape, seiously unplayable. damn 17-year-old-impulse-purchase.
i have also passed on buying lots of guitars that were real bargains, thinking i couldnt afford them (spent a lot of money on drinking/partying at the time... idiotic)

Still have mine. And, believe you me, you shouldn't feel so bad...... they're better in your head than in real life.
I had a really nice 70's stereo receiver that I threw in a dumpster because it wouldn't work. I am now convinced I'd be able to fix it. Had really nice lights with great pots and sounded huge and smooth. Real intuitive layout of knobs and buttons too. Nothing I've owned since has scratched that itch...
Believe it or not, I regret getting rid of my dual rectum-frier. I'm convinced that there are sounds on those amps that are not attainable with any other.*
