Just checked Ebay: Seems that even the CD has the worth of 25 bucks according to some seller. Really, nothing on there is worth that amount of money. The pink LP is pretty, at least.
i used to have that. sunshine's "velvet suicide" album was alright.
buy my guitar. now with pictures!

I can't remember the first thing I bought that was really collectible. I guess one of my earliest real "scores" I can remember was when I bought an original press of Agnostic Front - "Victim in Pain" for under $6.00 at Plastic Fantastic near Philly. That was about 20 years ago. That place always had high prices for everything so I felt particularly happy to have gotten one over on 'em.

Most I've ever paid for a record was $150.00 for a sweet copy of the Fushitsusha - double live LP (PSF 3/4). It was totally worth it and was paid for using some of the $610.00 I had just made from selling a copy of the Boscoe LP (which I'd found for 20 cents at a thrift store in Chicago). I used the rest of the money to buy a new turntable.

I love records like crazy but am usually thrifty when it comes to buying them and stay within my limits. That said, if someone has a spare copy of the Dutch band GRRR's album, please PM me and tell me what you want for it!

I don't think I've ever bought a collectible record, at least not after it had become collectible.

I've got a copy of Anthony Braxton's Willisau Quartet box set which seems to be pretty sought after in some circles, bought it new at the Tower Records in Ann Arbor in '93 or so. Also the first Converge cassette, I suspect that would be worth something to somebody.

I'm generally happy with re-issues or copies, I'm pretty much only interested in the music on the thing, I have no need for a physical piece of history. Not that that shit isn't cool, just not an interest I've picked up.

Sid Hartha wrote:First 'collector' purchase: a mint promo copy of The Beatles' Something New, which I bought from some store in Arlington Heights in '75.

I wasn't interested in the collector's value of it, but it was the mono version - and in very good condition - so I had to have it.

Was this the record store, whose name now eludes me, that used to be in downtown Arlington Heights, on the south side of the railroad tracks? If it is, it is where I purchased many of my first British punk records, among other things.
