I enjoyed watching the progression of Kirk Hammett's hair implants throughout this movie.

I really dug this when I saw it in the movies. I think Metallica were a great band to do a doc like this about, because they're sort of past their prime and refusing to admit it. I don't think such a flick would work with many other bands - in fact, right now I can't think of one, except perhaps the Rolling Stones.

Maybe U2, but their last album was pretty decent.
I make music/I also make pretty pictures

I only got through 2/3 of this. That's still two whole honkin' hours of Metallica, though. JHC.

Those were some amazing sweaters.

My Third Favorite Small Moment

Having seen a bit of Apocalyptica's set a week or so before, noticing that their music is in a scene of Lars walking around.

My Second Favorite Small Moment

Trujillo getting into the band and, a bit later, transcribing the bass parts in what looks like a garret.

James-snark-Lars-snark:

--You're trying to totally control the creative process!
--No, YOU totally won't accept anyone else's input, fucker! FUCK!

THEN two seconds of Hammett:

--Man, now you know how I've felt the last fifteen years.

...aaannnddd everyone ignores him, back to James! Lars! James! Lars!

Two things that I'm AMAZED nobody's mentioned yet (i.e. possibly the two best bits of the movie, in my view):

1 - Hetfield's slamming-the-door trick. I came very close to wetting myself when this happened.

2 - Artiste Bob Rock's moment of genius - "Lars, take this microphone"...."FWAAAAUUUKKK!!!! FWAAAUUKKK!!!! FWAAAUUUUKKKK!!!!! FWAAUUUKKKKKKK!!!!!"

This film is so very, very funny.

Oh, and the aforementioned Pro-Tools bit...let's not forget what Lars actually SAYS:

"You know what gets my DICK HARD?!?! DOUBLE BASS DRUM on the FIRST BEAT!"
"You Humans make a brave noise."

Oh man, of course! I had not seen this done by anyone over the age of 13 until this beautiful moment.

Was the door slam followed by the dread-evoking spooky music rampant in reality TV ("Oh my God, there is such tension in the Petchooka Tribe!") or is my memory adding that in?
