You hear a certain song and it instantly makes you think of an old flame of yours.
At The Bottomless Pit show the K brothers played the bedhead song 'Crushing' and it instantly brought me back to my first hardcore head over heels love, way back in the day. She'd put the Bedhead record on every time we would do our business in the bedroom. That song is placed on the album as such it would come on right when things got real good.
I cannot hear a the Weezer song 'My name is Jonas' without thinking of an ex g/f of mine who would greet me every time I saw her with 'My name is Jonah!' and run up and give me a bug hug with her big boobs all pressed up on me and whatnot.

2Dirty Laundry by Don Henley always make me think of Jessica Eisenstein. She was my 5th grade girlfriend and it was our song. Such a romantic song.

3fuck there are a million.
they will probably get me till i die.
my longtime old flame used to crack a beautiful wide smile or laugh at "jack is in his coat & jane is in her vest, & me, i'm in a rock 'n roll band" from sweet jane & "there is a house in new orleans, not the one you heard about, i'm talkin' 'bout another house" in new orleans from silver jews. i loved that.
i used to tease a girlfriend named jenny with de la's jennifa taught me. she loved that.
so, so many come to mind.
then there are the made-up ones, the doggy song, the drunk tao song, the because-tonight-girl-i'm-gonna-get-stinky-with-u song.
i believe the saddest thing in the world is when the private jokes die.

4A flame of mine from my freshman year of college made me a mix tape with songs by the Specials, the Smiths (of course), the English Beat, Madness, and Billy Bragg's "Little Time Bomb."
Most of the tracks wouldn't lead me to recall that girl, with the exception of "Little Time Bomb" (and not because of that song's potentially maudlin content). In fact, I'd say that this is the only song I know of that I associate with a particular girl, but the association is pretty major.
It's also a really lovely song.

5I just wrote a whole thing with a number of songs that remind me of girls I used to know and who are junkies now and then deleted it. I made myself sad.
But...
"Freak scene" by dino jr.
"Berkeley is my baby" by blatz
"The list" by Filth
"Sweet 69" by Babes in Toyland

6My first girlfriend in high school was a huge They Might Be Giants fan. Anytime I hear something off Flood definitely reminds me of her.

When I was in 1st grade she gave me a note and told
me not to open it until i got home
of course i immediately opened it during class
and it said "i love you" in purple crayon
when i got home i was in the bathroom washing my hands for dinner
and i put my hand in my pocket to read it again
but it was gone
a hole in my pocket
i remember hearing "total eclipse of the heart"
coming from the living room cause my sister was watching MTV
i may have cried i don't remember
i know i wanted to
so i think of her whenever i hear "total eclipse of the heart"
and still get a little sad
plenty more

In some bizarre twist of fate, I dated a girl who told me that she gave a strip tease to an ex, to this song.

10Hearing anything by the Flaming Lips or Leonard Cohen reminds me, and not in a good way, of an older woman I was involved with, on-and-off.
