So I punched a yuppie on the way to work today

I admit I lost my cool. I shouldn't be hitting people and I haven't hit anyone in years but I just snapped, it was all reaction. I don't recall getting out of the car at all. He gives me the finger with that smug look on his face, yapping into the cell phone and blows that loud ass horn at me. He was 1000 percent in the wrong here, just blatantly in the wrong. Could have seriously injured me and fucked my car all up for no reason other than he's a douchebag who thinks he can bully his way past everyone on teh streets with his big SUV. I just lost it.

Some people only understand English. Others Spanish. Some people speak many languages.

This yuppy fuck clearly understands one language - violence. More and more people like to push and push and push. They blah-blah-blah in English but only really understand a poke in the snotter.

I abhore violence. I try to be a pacifist. Sometimes it doesn't work.

I also have to agree with the general consensus of the PRF that violence is a flat-out waste of time (time that could be spent having fun or being productive).

Sorry to hear about your commute to work. Hope yer hand is ok. You need those hands to play bass.

I had a similar incident recently except I was on my bike. A driver was being an asshole, honking, swerving, hogging the lane, etc. Being an all around prick. I roll up to him at a stop light and I was definitely seeing red. I screamed and shouted, praying he would get out of his car because I wanted to absolutely destroy him. I had the most primal desire to cause this guy pain in the worst way. I was shaking so hard with adrenaline that I could barely stand still. Lucky for both of us, he was not so tough without his car, so he stayed in and ignored my threats. I spit a giant loogie on his window and he sped off. I pedaled about a half a block before I had to stop because I was shaking so hard from the adrenaline pumping through my veins. After I relaxed, I realized that it wouldn't have helped anything if I had actually gotten into it with this guy. It's not fucking worth it. Yeah, I probably would have enjoyed the one or two seconds when my fist landed on his face, but I'd like to think I am far better than that. No sense being an asshole to another asshole. It doesn't do anyone any good.

Mr. Sup, I get why you hit this guy. Road rage is a fucking crazy thing, but that prick in the SUV will not be a better person after being hit by you. It was not the right thing to do, but I get why you did it. Almost every day I find myself in situations where I want to slash a tire, key a car, or break someone's nose for being a jerk, but I find it's better not to.

Punching someone in traffic is definitely wrong, or fucked, or whatever the word that Mr. Albini was looking for is, but I think we all know you realize that and aren't going around doing it daily or anything and, at least from the account you gave, it seems like you were still less of a douchebag than the guy you punched.

I have also been punched, actually more slapped than punched but I think it was intended to be a punch, in traffic; in my case the puncher was the douchebag though. Basically I was trying to get out of a turn-only lane, signal on and all, and this 40ish dude in his car was doing everything in his power to make sure I couldn't. At the last second I had to cut him off and he responded by laying on his horn at me, making all sorts of gestures and otherwise being furious, to which I shrugged, flipped him off and tried to take the onramp to the next highway to I could get where I was going.

While on the onramp, dude actually gunned his engine and swerved out of the onramp lane to get around, then in front of me, and then slammed on his brakes and came to a full stop. He proceeded to get out of his car, got all up in my face and started screaming at me about how-dare-I and you-som-bitch and such, I shrugged and started to respond by telling him he could've just let me over when he had the opportunity and why didn't we both just get back in our cars and go home when he interrupted me, saying he wanted to kick my ass right there and then.

Now I'm 27 or 28 at this point, certainly no brawler but still fairly certain I can take a puffed up 40 year old in a fistfight and then some. I also know I have zero interest in fighting anyone, especially over a traffic incident, and explained so to him, whereupon he drew back a hand and laid into my face, knocking my sunglasses off and leaving a big red mark on my face before storming back to his car.

My friends were divided, upon hearing the story later, on whether I should have gotten out and stomped him or called the police. I did neither. I'm still fairly sure I got the upper hand. Fuck that guy, you know?
