the really lo fi degraded delay sound used on one of the guitars and the backwards violin bit(@ 6:10)
how can i achieve this sound?
it's not your usual modulation. when i say lo fi, i don't mean lack of treble like an analog delay...it's more degraded with a tad wobble/flutter... but not the wobble/flutter chorusy modulation...
it's driving me nuts...
i own a line 6 dl4, and the tube echo comes close, however, it's a vibrato wobble rather than a proper degraded sound...
any ideas???

2The fine folks in GYBE! seem to favor the Diamond Memory Lane, at least the few times ive seen them live. This is a great full featured delay but it comes with a hefty price. I got mine for around 400 new a while back. I believe now they have a newer version 2 available which has all types of bells and whistles like expression pedal in / out and effects loops etc.

3When I saw them I remember seeing a space-echo somewhere in the massive pile of gear on stage. It could just be a "kind of broken" Space Echo.

I have not heard the GYBE bit you're talking about. However, the above could well be, but rather it's tape that has creases or is somehow not smoothly running. I had that by accident on my tape echo and it made it into a recording. sounds cool.

6Univox echo machines usually go cheap.
If you want to produce tape wow stretch the tape after you record.

7I have that exact Univox machine. It uses a spinning magnetic disk instead of tape. The motor in mine is kind of fucked, so it flutters a ton, which might be what your looking for as well...
