kayte - sincerely glad you've had a good experience with your tent.

you are the exception. i've seen too many friends with crap tents which take up the whole trunk or their car, bought for a couple hundred bucks, which have zippers go bad and crap rain flies (flys?). these are the tents which are depicted in sitcoms during the episode where the family goes camping and ends up trying to find a motel at 3am, leaving dad snoring in a puddle under a deflated pile of nylon and plastic and bent poles.

adam asked for a recommendation, and i wouldn't generally recommend "hey, just pick up a tent of whatever brand name from some sporting goods store." you could end up with the best tent ever, but you're more likely to end up with a headache.

again, i am glad your tent works for you. recommend it to adam, if you like it.

That looks good! I shall investigate this tent, thanks. Do you own one?

Thanks so much for the US recommendations, but it seems that there's not much transatlantic trade in tents - few of the recommended brands appear to be available here.

I was on the beach behind Bamburgh, last month. If you are in the area, Alnwick castle is great to visit. You get to dress up.

Thanks again Mr K! Quick garden test yesterday proved entirely successful, even with only the monstrous children for assistance. Now am very excited about my wife's/children's first camp trip.
