I've got an office that I'm going to use as the room for my guitars and shit and I'm wondering how I should set it up. I'm going to buy a humidifier/dehumidifier and the room is temp controlled. I have a ton of wall space, so I'm inclined to use hooks to hang guitars/basses from. The heavier shit will stay on the floor or in the case. I play any of the guitars I have out once every other day or so, and they're all well maintained and kept in tune.
Which is better? Hook? Stand? Is there any difference? Is one better for midterm storage?
Hook vs Stand.
2I like hooks more. Guitar stands are a pain in the ass. The only downside is that you can't reuse the little plastic thing that you screw them into the wall with. Not too big of a deal though because they're not absolutley necessary. My roommate thinks they're like hanging art on the wall. I don't.

3Fuck, I knew it. You're a Blues Lawyer.

LOL. Not even in the same ballpark.

5There are guitars hanging up in a few rooms in my dad's house, but honestly I'm not sure if I'd ever go that route. looks kinda tacky. guessing you're not super worried about getting the odd ding on your guitars?

Tacky I agree with. My office is a hidden away room. Pilled with stuff I haven't unpacked. Getting claustrophobic in here.
I don't worry about dings and shit. I'm not a collector (per se) - all my guitars are players.
Hook vs Stand.
8I'm paranoid about the weight pulling on the neck. Stands for me.

It's the only way I'll be able to achieve the sound I hear in my head.

9In the world of earthquakes I worry about the guitars jumping off the stand.

10The problem I've always had with hooks is that since they generally require a non-stud wall as anchorage, they often seem to end-up on the inside of external walls, and the temperature fluctuations are therefore (I would think) rather more pronounced than in the centre of a rooms (on a stand) or anchored to an interior (dividing) wall.
I walk these streets, a loaded six-string on my back.
