I bought a creative zen V instead of an iPod nano. The idea was that it was cheaper and did everything the iPod did and more. That was correct, but they don't work with macs (and I'm a mac user) and the thing crashed and failed so often that I wished I had just bought the iPod to begin with. The bundled software is total trash and the firmware is kinda shitty. The interface is pretty clunky too.
It looked really nice, but it felt really cheap in my hands and bugged out on me all the time.

It had some advantages over the iPod, but not enough to make it 'better' in my opinion:

*Damn near impossible to scratch
*Sexy shiny black plastic
*Nice contrasting colour
*Battery life (mostly due to the OLED display, but they get dimmer with time)
*Customisable menus for navigation
*Changeable backgrounds

I love mine. Utterly reliable, cheaper than an iPod, and doesnt force me to install freaking iTunes on my computer. Im sure I'll have to do that some day, but the longer I can resist it the better.

Not crap.

For people having headphone problems & no budget problems, try a pair of Grado-SR80 or a cheaper Grado-SR60 headphones. They are probably one of the best <$100 headphones. That piece of advise for the Legs of destruction & Sebastian. Once you listen on these headphones, you will engage in watersports with your earlier headphones....100 word paragraph 82 headphone mentions
