this is something I keep thinking about as I read through this thread. Mexican technically means "citizen of Mexico" or something like that... it is most correctly a word of nationality. But in modern America, at least in Chicago which is all I can really speak to, the word "Mexican" is commonly used to mean "hispanic" or "latino/latina" or whatever. it's a generic catch-all that ignorant people use, without even understanding their misuse, to mean "anybody from south of the US" which would include Puerto Ricans, Guatemalans, Peruvians etc.

Seeing as Mandroid is in Cali, which I have heard is very heavily populated with actual from-Mexico Mexicans, legal and illegal, US-citizen and non-citizen alike, I'm guessing there's a reasonably high probabilty she used the word correctly.

Puerto Rico is in the Atlantic Ocean.

It is also pretty undeniably south of most of the US.
