Andy, read the baseball thread.

Warmowski is one funny motherfucker. Both he and Soup often make my day with something or other, and Officer Bob doesn't get enough love.

I don't think using racist language necessarily defines one as a racist, but it doesn't do much to dispel that notion once it forms for that or any other reason.

And yes, I think saying "Mexican pieces of shit" is racist language. The only reason to mention race (ethnicity) this way is to somehow compound or enrich the insult of the phrase "pieces of shit."

One could say it is merely descriptive, as though one had said "Human pieces of shit," but that would be nonsensical. Nobody would say that because it flies in the face of common comprehension in the way that "Mexican pieces of shit" does not. It implies that the Mexican variety of shit pieces is somehow offensive in a special Mexican way.

So yeah, it's ugly, it's racist language and I don't tend to speak that way myself, but I don't do it out of fear of offending Mexicans,. If I'm going to bother insulting someone, I can find a better way than just bringing up his ancestry.

Ok, sigh.

To start, I don't ever recall claiming to never have uttered a hurtful or regrettable word towards someone or even large groups of people. I have, plenty. Everyone says and does things they look upon later and go 'Oh man'
such is life for all involved.
Maybe not you holier than thou sparkling clean highly evolved college liberals, but most other people.
I am not worried about it, all I can do is not say that shit I wish I didn't say yesterday today. I am not gonna beat myself up about it.

That being said, the Indian story. Come on.
If you don't understand the adult's program go in your room and watch some cartoons.

I just sat and listened to a Indian supremacist speak for three hours. During question and answer time I sat and listened to white college kid after white college kid stand up and vigorously damn their country to hell with all their might for the terrible acts committed to these poor people. That's all fine and good, yes. Terrible things. Indeed. Know the story, trail of tears all that. Real bad stuff. (look at watch)
My mind wanders.
I picture someone standing up and saying something at all dissenting with this frothing mass. How completely unhinged these people would get. This woman has really got these kids worked up.
What would the most outrageous thing I could possibly stand up and say in this situation be? What could I say where I might possibly actually be killed by this crowd?
Actually I think Indians are a filthy inferior race of people...etc...
I giggle to myself. Yeah, that would be pretty fucking funny.

I really don't wanna have to ruin bits I think are otherwise funny with over explanation but see, as I was telling the story of being at this Indian supremest revival I was trying to place the reader in my shoes and recreate for them the satisfying giggle I gave myself when I thought of someone standing up and expressing that sentiment to the group.

I will try not to be so abstract from now on. Straight knock knock jokes for you. Gotcha.

Nina, I said blow it out his ass because this is the closest thing I have ever seen to a utopian society. These people here go to great lengths to help each other every single day. For the sheer pleasure of helping another person. Every single person I have met and dealt with off here has been beyond wonderful. It's absolutely amazing to me. This community here, she is a great and noble experiment and she is working like clockwork. Just pumping away. I need information about anything, I do not google it. I come here. Being in bands for as long as I have and playing shows and whatever, I was so bitter because everyone I met involved in the 'scene' was an utter douchebag. Every band we'd play with, every person we'd deal with was just a prick.
Then I found this place. Everyone is not a douche. NOBODY is a douche. They ask us to play shows with them, they say yes when I ask them to play with us. They listen to my stuff and give me feedback. Honest good direct feedback. They have listen to theirs and ask me for my feedback. This is heaven to me. They come record my songs with me, they loan me equipment. All with a big handshake and smile.
Un fucking real.

Then we have someone disgruntled fool come in and think he's just gonna dribble piss all over it.
Someone does something right in the middle of the room for absolutely no other reason than to cause strife and dissent amongst the townsfolk.
This is not the way we do things round here.
We are in this together and this asshole walks up and decides he's just gonna put as big a crack as he can right there in the wall.
Guess what fuckface?
This is not the way we do things round here.
Eat a thousand miles of plaster dicks on the way out of here.

anyhow, I was driving home from visiting my niece and her baby today and I saw something that made me think this whole issue is bigger than we all thought....

It's just more of that current trend in stand-up comedy which purports to remove the stigma of racism by making a joke of it, while at the same time reveling in its shock value.

CRAP for not being particularly creative or funny.

But again, stand-up comedy is art, so that's different than saying racist shit to random people in everyday life.
