These two bits from Mr. Ralph's post impressed me because lately I've been fascinated by a lot of stuff that might vaguely fit into these categories, redundant as that might seem. Rafferty, 10cc, Steely Dan, other studio nerds whose music just sorta drifts in and out, trying carefully not to disturb anyone yet bordering on creepy in its perfection. Like I said, I'm fascinated by it, but I'm not quite ready to commit to liking it.

I think "marina rock" was J.D. Ryznar's catch-all term for that eery AOR session hotshot rock that didn't quite make it to the smooth upper "yacht rock" echelon... could be wrong, though.
