Terrible songs that get worse as they go along

Have we all forgotten Three Dog Night's version of "Black and White"? What a goddamn awful song. As it goes along, they add more and more backup singers, including the obligatory negro (or perhaps a muppet - his voice is cartoonish whatever he is). The quasi-African percussion doesn't help matters. It was their heavy-handed attempt at a racial equality message. Their hearts were in the right place, but I don't think they could have come up with something more ridiculous than "Black and White".

Three Dog Night wrote:The ink is black, the page is white
Together we learn to read and write
A child is black, a child is white
The whole world looks upon the sight, a beautiful sight

And now a child can understand
That this is the law of all the land, all the land

The world is black, the world is white
It turns by day and then by night
A child is black, a child is white
Together they grow to see the light, to see the light

And now at last we plainly see
We'll have a dance of Liberty, Liberty!

The world is black, the world is white
It turns by day and then by night
A child is black, a child is white
The whole world looks upon the sight, a beautiful sight

The world is black, the world is white
It turns by day and then by night
A child is black, a child is white
Together they grow to see the light, to see the light

The world is black, the world is white
It turns by day and then by night
A child is black, a child is white
The whole world looks upon the sight, a beautiful sight

The world is black, the world is white
It turns by day and then by night
A child is black, a child is white
Together they grow to see the light, to see the light

C'mon, get it, get it
Ohh-ohhhh, yeah, yeah
Keep it up now, around the world
Little boys and little girls
Yeah, yeah-eah, oh-ohhh

any song by maroon 5 is going to fit snugly into this thread.

Robert Christgau once called one of their (s)hits "rhythmically profound."

I shit you not.

"Rhythmically profound." That's a term you use for James Fucking Brown, not those tardgarglers in Maroon 5.

I lost about 50% of any respect for the dude that I previously had reading that.

Not that I had tons to begin with, but seriously...Christ on a plate, I hate Maroon 5. Why did they name themselves that? Because they're 5 maroons? Jesus.

Oh, and one I'd add is that one annoying novelty bullshit song: That animated cellphone frog thing that topped the charts with the theme from Beverly Hills Cop. I mean...people's taste is incredibly suspect sometimes.
Life...life...I know it's got its ups and downs.

I think I lose 50% of whatever respect I have for Christgau every time I read him. He gains it back a little sometimes, but he still doesn't look good to me.

I liked the Crazy Frog sound when it was just the sound in front of a still picture of a racing car. Whoever took it and commercialized it with that fucking retarded frog needs to die ten deaths. Thank you, anonymous douche, for turning something funny into something shitty.

I'm not surprised that Christgau said something like that. He had a chubby for Pink, you know. I read enough of the voice back in the day to disagree with a lot of things he has written.

True that you could put any Maroon 5 song in this thread, but I think I hate that one the absolute most of what I heard.

The song was called "My Love." The one that he called rhythmically profound, I mean.

Sometimes I wonder about Christgau. The guy has moments that are beacons of good taste - his review of Generic was entirely surprising and gratifying, cause I would have bet that he would have hated it, and yet he loved it. And the quip about Mick Mars being "dork-fingered" is at a Lester-Bangs level of hilarity.

Then he goes and gives Pink albums good reviews. I tell you, it's frustrating.

I don't know this song. How does the bad part go?

I will be pointing out to the imaginary you certain musical phrases, lyrics, and the awesome giddie-up part at the end of the song. It's going to be awesome.

I'm sorry! I just can't handle this song!
