I never heard the Marley story before, but both Steve Jones and John Lydon have copped to the fact that the mikes the Sex Pistols used were stolen from a David Bowie gig. The show was being recorded for a live album, so they ended up with much better gear than the usual handful of SM57's and SM58's. Jones also claims he nicked a guitar from Ron Wood's collection when he snuck backstage at a Faces concert. By all accounts, Jones was a serious kleptomaniac back in the day.

No word on the Stooges' equipment yet, but the truck was found by police in Montreal:

I just got back from the Toronto show, which I assume is the first show since the equipment theft. Mike was playing a creamy light blue EB-3 and Ron was playing a white Firebird. They never mentioned the incident but they played like it was the biggest "fuck you" to whoever stole their shit and messed with the Stooges. Godammit Watt really is the greatest. Put him in the band photos already!

Also, Fucked Up opened, and they were amazing. So much fun to see them in the setting of a big theatre.

A pal who was at that show emailed this about the EB-3 Watt played at the Massey Hall show:
