Maybe he read the power requirements? Sometimes theyre stamped on the amp chassis near the power cord. Ive seen that before -- listings for 300 watt Fender Twins and the like.

Almost certainly. Power consumption. That would indicate that he doesn't know anything whatsoever about amps. That, and him thinking he was getting 200W out of a single pair of EL34's. So probably anything he has to say about how the amp functions is misinformed. Like, the broken tremolo, it might well be that the trem tube is toast. That could actually be a problem, potentially, what with some amps (not sure about this one) achieving tremolo by modulating the bias. Long story short, there is only one vintage Traynor tube amp that's 200+ watts, and this isn't it.

in comparison to my mig 60, how is the hd-130 going to differ? guys says it sounds really great, can be split to output only 65 watts, which sounds ideal for me. I'm going to pick it up tomorrow. if I like it, I might be saying bye to my mig. :? fuck car insurance, that is what my credit card is for!

My question is, what's wrong with your mig-60 that requires you to replace it with a Musicman HD-130?

I have a MIG 60 and a MM 65 watt head, which like the HD 130 can be set for half power (30 or so watts). The MM has reverb and tremolo, and distorts ok, but not great. I use it a lot for recording bass, find it to be not quite as useful for guitar. Overall, I think the MIG sounds better for guitar, both clean and distorted.

I don't know much about the mig 60, but I have an hd-130 and i really like it. Mine is the bass version which appears to be the one you're checking out. One unusual thing (or at least i think it's unusual) is that it's got a solid state preamp. It also has a bass input with a 'deep' switch (like a bassman).

It's a great amp.... I use it as a guitar amp in one my bands. PM me if you'd like some sound samples.
