oh shit
The "killing" part was hyperbolic in the context of the original thread wherein I was talking about stuff that really viscerally pissed me off, but, yeah. I don't like Chinese or Japanese culture and I do not get along with Chinese or Japanese people as a general rule. That's fine. I don't do anything to harm them or discriminate against them. We just don't get along for the most part.
You know what really pisses me off? Racism is only considered racism if the people look different than you do. Can I not fairly detest where someone comes from if they happen to look non-white? The British hate the French and vice versa and that's totally acceptable but I can't dislike the Chinese because they aren't Caucasian looking? Can you just not agree with/like people from a certain country for whatever reason and have it be okay anymore?
I went back and re-read some parts of this thread and stumbled upon this.
This is sort of confusing. I was all about agreeing w/ Marsupialized's defense of Mandroid before, but now I'm not so sure what to think.
What do you guys think about it? Seems like this deserved more discussion than the groggy, off-hand comment did.
Agreed. This was a far more loaded post than the one being repeated- like
the knife turning back and forth after stabbing. Pretty embarrassing shit.
Are we now feeling "enlightened" to the point where we feel that we're insulated from all accountability? I think we all need to realize that racism thrives on this type of acceptance of the status quo, and that(contrary to Marsupialized's perspective) one inflammatory comment is an open door to a thousand.
There's more cognitive dissonance on this thread than on all the threads
in the history of this forum.
