Sunderland's midfield and defence were SUPERB against Liverpool yesterday.
Steed Malbranque was especially excellent, and Diouf looked promising. Just need a striker who'll score goals, and to get rid of Daryl Murphy.
At least we didn't see Anthony Stokes anywheer near the squad. Apparently he's not too happy to have lost the number 9 shirt to, um, nobody yet.
Asked about the decision to make Stokes his new 44, Keane collapsed on his desk in mock despair. “Please don’t go down that bloody road,” he pleaded. “You can read too much into these things and the players are obsessed with these bloody numbers.
“We don’t think Stokesy is a number nine, you can look at it like that. Apparently he used to be 44 at Arsenal. Allegedly. 144 more like!
Anyway, Torres' goal was great yesterday and it was good day out, only spolit by some Liverpool idiots in the home seats. I felt sorry for the Irish Sunderland fan who protested, got hurled down the bottom few rows of the upper tier (I seriously thought it was curtains for him - he wasn't far off coming off the bottom and landing on the fans below) and then got arrested for his troubles.
