I've heard the whole thing. I love the Verve, especially the guitar heavy early stuff. Four is shit. Nothing on it is salvageable. It's terrible.

Heard the single and wooooooo man was it CRAP

As a dude who digs the Verve and didn't even know there was a single out until reading this thread, then went to check it out...

boring as shit now and pretty much "over," but will always be the genre closest to my heart in some kneejerk, overriding-the-brain nostalgia way. those amazing moments in a really good classic/standard shoegaze song where it sears your brain--i'll always be grateful for those. pretty much my archetypal music memory. it's like the closest thing to what i wanted to hear in my head as a fetus, ie sans cultural baggage. the first time i heard mbv it was like a sigh of relief, a purely physical "a-HA!" one of my friends said loveless sounds like god's washing machine. i wonder if people will tease me now...
i don't wanna post any more comments 'cause if i do my status will no longer be "courtesan."

MBV, AR Kane, Loop, Seefeel are the only ones that matter to me - with MBV a massive fave.

anyway, Shoegaze (uch-y-fi) was predated by Dreampop which i think has some merit as a category coz at least it is kind of descriptive sound-wise.

so dunno really, feel all vague and floaty on this one........
