My original post is, admittedly, rather insipid in its use of language--you're absolutely right about that.

So please indulge me while I attempt to redeem myself here in Internet Land, where my social standing/online status is so incredibly important to me:

What I meant wasn't that "all new music sucks these days" but rather that "the general state of music these days sucks as evidenced by the fact that a bland and unremarkable band like Bloc Party would seem noteworthy to anyone."

Hardly the most insightful thing anyone's ever posted on the internet but then again I'm not trying to write the great american novel here...just passing time mostly, with mixed results.
