Fucking ludicrous.

Everything about that article made me even more irritated with those people. "East Williamsburg" can go suck a dick along with Williamsburg proper. So glad we moved out of there.

Okay. Haven't been here for a few days.

I am with the others on the Goodside/Funnyside recommendations. They are nice safe neighborhoods and are becoming quite popular as less pricey alternatives to Greenpoint and Astoria.

It's a great transit hub and has some of the best food in NYC. The 7 train is a major priority if you are going to be commuting to Flushing.

The proximity to "hip" areas could be a plus as you will be neighboring Greenpoint/LIC/Williamsburg and if you value nightlife with like-minded folk that's where you would be most likely to find it.

PM me. I may be able to help her get a place and, if not, I'd be happy to help her get to know the area if she decides to visit first.

There is no such thing as "East Williamsburg." This neighborhood, she is Bushwick.

Exactly. The first thing on a long list that annoys me about people who live there. We did and we refused to call it East Williamsburg.

Best thing about that neighborhood is a corner tienda/restaurant that serves the best damn burritos I've had in NYC. El Chile Verde, on the corner of Bushwick and Montrose (Meserole?). Check it out if it's still there. Just a dusty little hole in the wall, but the family who run it cook like it's their own home kitchen and you can taste the love.

Emily, her brother, and her boyfriend have successfully relocated and are living somewhere near the border of Long Island City and Astoria. They wound up getting a storage space, staying with friends for a week while searching for apartments, and eventually sacrificing some money to pay a broker to find their 2-bedroom apartment.

Thanks once again to everyone for their advice! It sounds like Ben (Emma's brother) got a job waiting tables right away, but he's also a phenomenal drummer and used to give drumming lessons back in WI, so if anyone in the NYC area is interested in potentially paying for lessons, PM me.
