Jesus Christ.

33. WTF.

Why you Brits jump through hoops to get silverface Fenders or Traynors is beyond me.

The croc covered selmer's end up going for an absolute fortune, usually. I'm no predictologist but this will more than likely end up being 5-600 quids or more.

The silver/aluminium faced later versions of the T&B go for much less and are still great.

Selmers are pretty much too loud if you want them to provide any crunch, at least without an attenuator added to the equation, at which point they aren't such a cheap option. Their output rating is apparently based on clean output, hence their reputation as ridiculously loud 50 watters.

See, I like them. A lot. But this issue troubles me. Can't you remove a couple of valves to get it to break up at lower volumes? I mean, I realise this has an impact on the amps overall sound, but it's one way to deal with the issue, right?
Stockhausen!

This can be done with the 100W versions, but not the 50W ones.

That's really important to know. Thanks for that dude!

So, as far as other home-grown/cheaper to source British valve amps are concerned - does anyone have any suggestions that they don't mind sharing?
Stockhausen!
