This is the kind of story that all the fans who normally hate the Cubs organization will rally behind whether it is true or not. Big thanks to DrAwkward for reminding me to post that. Also funny, never seen any Cubs fans do anything like that before.Oh wait....-Jeremy

Yea, people boo and righfully so.I have said my bit here and other posters have made similar arguments. If you want to continue on with this bullshit enjoy your day. I'm telling you as someone who lives two block from Wrigley Field that this is not the case.Alright, alright. You go to a Cubs game a week, I heard you, Jesus Christ. You completely ignored the post where I actually agreed with you about Milton Bradley's behavior while still calling into question the racism that is prevalent at any Pro Sporting event, which, you know, is kind of bullshit.John George Peppers wrote:This thread turned into a, "hate on the cubs" thread much quicker than I thought would. Oh PRF you are so holy, any argument that I don't agree with I must dis-credit it under the auspice that it is not to your standards. Give me a break. You steered the argument that way.John George Peppers wrote:enjoy your day.[/quote]Thank you, I will.-Jeremy

Lost in John George Peppers completely hearing only what he wants to hear is this really great post.doctor\_chumley wrote:I would have to say Cubs fans are pretty average in the realm of major league baseball as far as racism goes. Not to be flippant about it at all. I haven't heard any type of racist statement in any game I've been to as an adult at wrigley(around 15 a year), then again I haven't been in the bleachers since around 2001. I don't think I've really heard any at comiskey as an adult, either (about 5 games a year)When you don't produce some catcalls will be thrown your way. Unfortunately for Milton/other players/society etc., some folks aren't very clever and/or racist.I think this is a pretty good summation of the argument against Cubs fans being racist. And thisMWilke wrote:I don't think Cubs fans are exceptionally racist, but they do give far shorter leashes to minority players like Jacque Jones, Derek Lee, Bradley, etc. when they struggle moreso than say Mike Fontenot, Reed Johnson, etc. That's not unique to Cub fandom though.Great posts.I'm letting go JGP.-Jeremy

John George Peppers wrote:Dear Jeremy, You are quoting the same posts I am, just picking different parts. So you admit not that Cubs fans are not racist? Yes, I did so back on page 1. And at the same time said that this 'mediocre' thread was more about Racism in sports than simply just the Cubs. I think the article makes a very interesting point about the actions of fans, not just Cubs fans. My own allegiances have absolutely nothing to do with it.John George Peppers wrote:You have drawn out a very mediocre thread based on a story that was written because it's been a slow new week for sports writers. Typically, it brought out all the Cubs haters. In your effort to try and squelch a thread that you don't agree with you have insulted it and by extension me to make it seem like you are above this debate. If that is the case you should've stopped typing after you wrote:John George Peppers wrote:THREAD OVER.But you didn't. You are the one that pushed the debate into Cubs hater territory, should you really be surprised when other people on the board jump in?-Jeremy

He has one of the highest salaries with the Cubs organization and he has not produced the numbers that the club is paying for him to produce. On top of which, he has made racist comments in the past. If anyone is racist it's him!Bottom line:He has had a terrible season and the fans are not happy with him. Rather than man up and admit he has not produced this year, he is calling cubs fans racist.Thread Closed.I take it you didn't read that article.-Jeremy B

I personally think there are pockets of racism at any pro-event. My uncle used to tell me stories about shit that would go on at Veteran's Stadium (both Phillies & Eagles) that made my head spin. Milton Bradley has played the race card repeatedly over the years to the point that it is no surprise for me to hear it from him now. What I think the article asks (or says) is what sort of rights do the tickets bestow on us the fan, what are the limits, etc. I think the article is interesting because it calls into question fans who are generally known as "lovable." Certainly no one would think that Cubs fans are the Klan of MLB.Anyway, Here is another interesting article about Cubs fans animosity and bitterness. Enjoy.-Jeremy

Jeremy B wrote:I take it you didn't read that article.-Jeremy B Did you read the fucking artical? He arrived in Chicago with enough baggage to fill the belly of a tanker ship. And his first season as a Cub has been a disaster. Bradley got hurt. He forgot how many outs there were. Most of all, he forgot how to hit.-Bradley has hit only seven more home runs than starting pitcher Carlos Zambrano -part-timer Jake Fox has just one fewer RBI than Bradley in less than half the at-bats. Also, in the same actical talking about this false racism.... Derrek Lee is respected, Bradley isn't. Lee produces, Bradley hasn't.Derrek Lee, African American first baseman and team captain. Beloved by most if not all cubs fans. This story is a joke and a smokescreen for Bradley's terrible season. He should just mad up and take it, but he is playing the race card. He is a joke.
